GDPR: Are you Ready?

Yesterday, Thursday 22nd February '18, ERSOUs Cyber Protect and Prevent teams were at Kings House Bedford, for the Bedfordshire Cyber Trust Groups - GDPR: Are you Ready? Cyber Security Conference.

The free event was organised and hosted by Sean O'Neil, Cyber Security Advisor for Bedfordshire Police, and attended by in excess of 200 businesses and exhibitors including businesses part of the Regional Cyber Trust Group (RCTG).

The aim of the day was to provide businesses with an understanding of cyber threats, recommended cyber security products including the Govenment backed Cyber Essentials, ISO27001 and the forthcoming GDPR legislation which if not complied with, could sevely impact business/es.

Guest speakers included the charismatic Richard Hannah who gave a very informative and interactive presentation on the upcoming GDPR legislation, including compliance, failure to comply and DPA 1998 case law.

For GDPR guidance visit the ICO website where you can use their self-assessment tools to help your organisation prepare. GDPR will be implemented on May 25th 2018.

ERSOUs cyber protect team publish a monthly newsletter aimed at providing advice and guidance to individuals and businesses in our region. All of the businesses we spoke to yesterday who were not already subscribed to the newsletter wanted to subscribe, and with an incentive of winning a box of chocolates who wouldn't?!

Out of all the business cards collected yesterday the winner was drawn at random this morning.
