A member of a gang who conspired to import kilos of cocaine into the UK has been ordered to pay back almost £350,000.

A member of a gang who conspired to import kilos of cocaine into the UK has been ordered to pay back almost £350,000. David Leitz, 65, who based himself in Slovenia, was jailed for 18 years in 2015 for arranging the importation of both cocaine and cannabis into the UK following an investigation by the Eastern Region Special Operations Unit (ERSOU). At a confiscation hearing at Southwark Crown Court yesterday (Tuesday), Leitz was ordered to pay a total of £333,765 within the next three months. If he does not do so then his assets will be sold to raise the funds. Financial Investigation Manager Stephen Keating said: “This was a complex investigation as Leitz had several different businesses across the world, so we’re pleased to have been able to secure this order. “Not only does Leitz have to serve a substantial jail term, he has also been stripped of all his assets. We will leave no stone unturned when it comes to ensuring that criminals never profit from their illegal activities.”
